Do all students find homework easy from the very beginning, or do they gradually build their confidence over time? The ability to sit down, focus and complete assignments is something they develop over time. Homework is not just solving problems - it's about building confidence to do any kind of work in life. When we avoid homework, we miss out on this training, and without it, we struggle to gain the confidence needed to do work in any field.
It is never the homework itself that feels impossible – it's the first step of starting that holds us back. At the start, we feel resistance. The comfort zone is tempting, and the fear of failure raises the stress hormones like Cortisol and Adrenaline. This makes the beginning the hardest part. But once we cross that fear line and begin, EVERYTHING CHANGES. The brain starts to release Dopamine and Norepinephrine, which boost focus and motivation. What once felt like a burden begins to feel lighter, even Enjoyable. Each small progress gives us a sense of reward, pushing us to continue further. Homework at this stage stops being a struggle and becomes an Activity where we can see our thoughts shaping into real work.
And when the task is finally completed, the body rewards us with Serotonin and Endorphins, giving a deep sense of relief and Accomplishment. That satisfying feeling is not just about homework, it’s about proving to ourselves that we can overcome any hesitation, step out of our comfort and succeed. This cycle is what slowly builds confidence: the more we repeat, the stronger we grow, not just in homework but in every challenge life puts before us.
If I want to know whether I can be the best in life, I should first ask myself: Am I the best at doing my homework?
