How emotionally damaged people affect others
Emotional Intelligence (EQ) is one of the most powerful and highly demanded traits that sets individuals apart in both personal and professional life, but what exactly is EQ—and how does it affect the people around you when it’s missing?
Emotional intelligence(EI) is the skill to recognize emotions within yourself and others and to use, manage and listen to them. Someone run by their emotions rather than managing them has low emotional intelligence. This shows not only in big moments but everyday interactions.
Emotional damage is past psychological trauma often from difficult or harmful life events affecting ones life which can only be healed not trained. People such a person feel drained, exhausted, stress, suppressed, unhealthy relationship dynamics and hard to communicate with.
These emotional patterns often show up as one-sided emotional labor, walking with eggshells, constant guilt, emotional inconsistency, feeling unheard, mental breakdowns, role reversals, or frequent misunderstandings.
“Imagine working with someone who can't take feedback or constantly needs to be right—over time, others feel like they can’t speak honestly".
These tensions often come from behaviors like needing to be right, reacting impulsively, crossing boundaries, avoiding emotional discomfort, making every conversation about themselves, refusing to apologize, or struggling to take feedback.
Emotional damage often goes hand-in-hand with low EQ, creating cycles of tension and misunderstanding. These patterns repeat—unless someone chooses to break the cycle
