Loneliness is a complex emotion that can often feel overwhelming, like being caught in quicksand. Even when surrounded by others, it is possible to experience a profound sense of isolation. This sense of isolation can linger even when you actively seek companionship.
Sometimes life puts you in a situation where, despite every effort to connect with someone or belong somewhere, you still end up feeling lonely. It becomes unavoidable, no matter how hard you try to build relationships, loneliness can remain, highlighting the human need to be understood and accepted.
The presence of a crowd does not always guarantee a sense of belonging or comfort. Even familiar faces sometimes fail to give a sense of belonging. The silence that accompanies loneliness can be so intense that it becomes almost deafening, amplifying feelings of emptiness and solitude.
Yet, this very loneliness can also become a bridge to Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىٰ). When the world feels distant and silent, it presents an opportunity to turn to Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىٰ). Instead of sinking into despair, find solace and companionship in faith. In this way, loneliness does not have to be a quicksand pulling you down. Rather, it can be a transformative journey towards Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىٰ).
When you use alone time in the remembrance of Allah, that loneliness transforms into a beautiful connection between Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىٰ) and His abd. It can be a conversation in Surah Al-Fatiha, the heartfelt duas, or the dhikr that comforts our hearts.
As Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىٰ) says in the Quran,
Those who believe and whose hearts find comfort in the remembrance of Allah. Surely in the remembrance of Allah do hearts find comfort.
