Fasting, Feelings, and the Healing Terrain
Does the world really need to give that much attention to the food that we are eating? If the answer is ‘no’, then why? Overeating and consuming unhealthy food can destroy our physical and mental health. Let's first have a look at the “theory of Terrain”. Antonie Béchamp found If your body’s internal environment is balanced—through good nutrition, detoxification, emotional stability, and rest—then even harmful microbes may not cause illness, which is contradictory to the germ theory of Louis Pasteur. However, to detoxify your terrain, fasting ( صيام (Siyām) is a key tool. Be careful about the main purpose of Siyam, which is the obligation of Allah SWT, but here we should realize the meticulous plan of Allah SWT.
During fasting, our body stops digesting constantly and can focus on cleansing. It breaks down and removes accumulated toxins, damages cells, and waste that helps create a cleaner terrain. Cellular repair ( autophagy ) is another phenomenon that is triggered and upregulated by fasting. Our Prophet Mohammad SW always emphasized the importance of fasting in our lives. Moreover, our mental health and emotional balances depends crucially on our physical health, and none of us can think positively if we are not physically fit. This indicates that Allah, the most glorious, has made his worship obligatory upon us for our own good, as Allah SWT Said in the Quran:
Surah Al -Ankabut 29:6
وَمَن جَاهَدََ فَإنِمََّا يجَُاهِدَُ لِنفَْسِهَِ َۚ إِنََّ الَلََّّ لغَنَِ يَ عَنَِ الْعَالمَِينََ
And whoever strives only strives for [the benefit of] himself. Indeed, Allah is free from need of the worlds.
