Just like other organs, the brain is also an organ. Just as we are not our lungs, in the same way, we are not our brains — we are much more than that. The Brain is an armor that ALLAH SWT designed to protect us from threats. That's why it keeps on making future models based on our past. The problem occurs when it becomes hyperactive and projects the worst possible case scenarios to us. The brain starts “playing God,” even though the future is 100% uncertain and only Allah (SWT) knows it. As the saying goes, “The mind is a terrible master but a wonderful servant.”
When we think of the worst possible case scenarios, it triggers our chief emotions, e.g., serotonin and cortisol. Ultimately, our overall mood is affected, and our emotional intelligence drops, which leads to conflict in our relationships.
Solution:
The solution is simple: we need to train our brain to understand that it cannot predict the future. Start by writing down both the best and worst possible outcomes of any situation. Eventually, you will realize that something unforeseen always happens—something you never thought of. After doing this for a couple of weeks, you will see a clear improvement.
