Donald Trump’s 2025 Gaza 20-Point Peace Plan aims to stabilize Gaza through reconstruction, humanitarian aid and economic development.
It proposes building hospitals, improving water supply and supporting regional cooperation. At first glance, the plan appears constructive, addressing urgent needs after years of conflict and destruction.
However, the plan has significant limitations. Its emphasis on disarmament and external oversight restricts Gaza’s political autonomy, making progress conditional on compliance rather than local participation. Reconstruction efforts risk creating dependency instead of empowering communities to govern their own affairs.
The plan also relies heavily on international donors, without establishing clear frameworks for accountability or sustainable governance. This reliance increases the likelihood of short-term relief but reduces prospects for durable solutions.
The 2025 Gaza Peace Plan can meet immediate needs but sustainable peace cannot be achieved without political self-determination. Still, its focus on reconstruction, humanitarian aid and regional cooperation offers a foundation for improving living conditions and rebuilding essential infrastructure.
A necessary, though incomplete, step toward long-term stability.
