A silent crisis is unfolding within our Ummah. Muslim women today are bombarded by the relentless narrative of Western feminism, and they; consciously or not are beginning to measure their self worth in it's scale and seeing their faith and Islamic identity through a lens of inferiority.
The Western narrative of a liberated woman is defined by a woman who is financially independent, has sexual freedom, free from traditional religious roles and empowered. Although this false sense empowerment is nothing but being a conformist and bandwagoner which screams social acceptance by the West.
The Wannabe Muslimah who internalise these traits ends up viewing the Islamic values such as haya, hijab, family system, spiritual fulfilment as a burden, a shackle around there neck; from which she needs to break free to feel "liberated".
This is a deep rooted issue of inferior psychology, and the solution lies in building confidence, unapologetic Muslimah identity through gaining authentic knowledge and re-education. By studying the lives of great women in our Islamic history who exemplify strength, intelligence and devotion. Learn about the rights of women granted in Islam. Learn to critically analyse narratives and ideologies before falling into herd mentality. Connect with knowledgeable mentors to navigate these challenges and build and join strong supportive communities with like minded fellow muslimahs who are striving to balance deep with current world challenges.
Our goal is to step out of the shadow of an imported ideology which has been forced down our throat through media and pop culture; having a subconscious impact, swaying us away from the Deen. This can be done by arming ourselves with authentic knowledge and building strong communities to support and uplift each other. Which can help raise the next generation that carries an Islamic identity unapologetically and a true source of liberation.
