No one has a system to train elders lifelong. After finishing school and university, no one can compulsorily gather adults in one place for training and development.
But do adults stop needing learning and guidance while the world changes every second and new challenges appear every minute?
Islam has that system to train it's followers throughout life, through institutions called masajid. Every muslim without any formal registration is automatically enrolled.
Who else can gather men of every age five times a day, every day, for life?
No one.
Through salah, Muslims realign with purpose collectively five times a day and every friday they receive training on current affairs through khutbah.
Masajid are meant for much more than just discussing the importance of miswak or the method of wudu or criticizing one firqa or another and never addressing the real challenges facing Muslims today.
The system of salah and the true purpose of the masjid need to be revive.
In the time of prophet ﷺ the masjid an-nabwi in madinah was the center of governance. Importantance political, social, military and community decisions were made there.
In khutbah (Friday address) was the main way to communicate policies, guidance and current issues to the public. Every day current affairs were addressed from the mimbar, Connecting the Ummah's daily life with divine guidance.
It was the parliament, the school and the training ground of Ummah.
It's time we bring back that system and make our masajid what they were meant to be.
