In 1933, Rahmat Ali declared “Now or Never” to name Pakistan into being highlighting the choice of survival or extinction. Today, the Muslims face a similar question of power or irrelevance.
On 17th September 2025, Pakistan and Saudi Arabia signed a Strategic Mutual Defense Agreement where one state’s aggression will be treated as aggression against both. This is the first building block of a Muslim security architecture.
Let's first talk about the unfinished purpose of Pakistan.
PAKISTAN'S PURPOSE
Pakistan was not created as another territorial nation-state. Its intellectual origins, from Iqbal’s Allahabad Address to Rahmat Ali’s declaration, envisioned it as the pivot and shelter for Muslim power and a center for independence and expansion. That mission got delayed but never abandoned. Hence, a collective defense union of Muslims is the natural extension of the founding idea of Pakistan.
THE CENTER AND ITS ORBIT
Pakistan is the only nuclear Muslim state and this fact alone makes it the unavoidable centre of any Muslim defense order. But nuclear weapons are not enough. Other Muslim countries must bring decisive assets:
Together, these form a comprehensive shield by deterrence, resources, geography, legitimacy, and numbers.
FAILED ATTEMPTS OF THE PAST
All lacked three essentials of independence, enforcement, and a center of gravity. Pakistan’s nuclear capability provides that center.
WHY NOW
The UN, ICJ, ICC, and NATO protect their own blocs which has been proven through selective justice, vetoes, and double standards in issues of Palestine, Kashmir, Iraq, and Gaza by these bodies. The Pak-KSA pact signals a shift towards security from within and not from without.
THE CHOICE
This is not another forum for resolutions. This is an opportunity to bind ourselves into a covenant that is enforceable, operational, and sovereign. It is the continuation of Pakistan’s founding vision on a global scale.
The Ummah must decide! Either we establish our own security covenant now or we continue to live under others’ shields which are expendable and voiceless.
It is once again Now or Never!
