Have we ever thought that as teachers, we are preparing our students to become successful in their professions, but something is missing?
They may do well in their professions in future, but there is no real connection or trust between peers and teachers anymore. The bond that used to be the soul of teaching is becoming weaker.
The question is: What element are we missing in our teaching that is stopping us from getting the real results we should?
The answer is that we often deal with students based on sympathy instead of empathy. Because of this, we do not see empathy in their character, behavior, or values.
When a teacher shows empathy, they put themselves in the student’s place, understand their challenges, and then adjust their teaching and guidance accordingly.
When a teacher shows only sympathy, they just feel sorry for the student but don’t take any real steps to solve their problems. This creates distance instead of trust.
A good teacher should have the ability to understand both the personal and social situations of their students. They should also be able to sense how students are feeling inside the classroom. By keeping these things in mind, the teacher should adjust their own behavior, teaching style, and guidance according to the needs of the students.
If we do this, we will build a strong relationship with students, encourage a growth mindset, and clearly see a difference in their success. This will not only improve students’ cognitive development and social growth, but also help teachers in their own professional growth.
In this way, education will produce not just skilled professionals, but also good human beings who are physically and emotionally strong and can play a positive role in society in future.
