"The best of you are those who are best to their families, and I am the best of you to my family."
(Sunan al-Tirmidhi, Hadith 3895; also reported in Ibn Majah, Hadith 1977)
Conflicts between husband and wife are often linked to a lack of emotional intelligence. This Hadith provides the best solution to all such conflicts. It is not only for men, but also for women who sometimes hide behind the “woman card” and avoid taking responsibility for maintaining the moral and emotional fabric of the home. Many women think that only men have anger or behavior issues, but the reality is that most fights are often initiated by women for no real reason.
That said, men are not free from fault either — they, too, need to regulate and control their anger.
We are often polite, gentle, and well-mannered with others — using good communication skills with our colleagues, friends, and relatives — yet at home, we show zero empathy and zero tolerance. We end up poisoning our home environment through daily conflicts.
The conclusion is that our families — especially our husbands, wives, and children — deserve more empathy and kindness from us. The Hadith above teaches us exactly how we should behave at home: with patience, compassion, and emotional intelligence.
