Why?
Because of the fact that all the problems that are going to be faced by the inhabitants of this planet, will be constrained by geography.
Geo-literacy means understanding places, people, and systems so we can choose the right actions at the right time.
I am often consumed by the thought “how do i, as an individual, solve the billion problems faced by the 8 billion people”
And sometimes overwhelmed by the burden of the responsibility bestowed upon us.
But if Allah has given us this responsibility, it also means He has given us the ability to solve these problems.
Then there is a wave of curiosity, if it’s possible then how, what should i do?
The most basic answer that I found is that, If we learn to read the map of the world, we can plan wisely instead of guessing.
Let’s look at the Seerah for guidance.
At Badr, the Prophet ﷺ first camped, then accepted advice to move near the wells, store water for the Muslims, and block other wells. Reading the land turned weakness into strength.
In the Battle of the Trench, Madinah had lava fields on two sides and an open north. The Muslims dug a trench only where the city was exposed.
Geography became a protection.
These events teach a method.
First, zoom out. Ask: which places will face heat, water stress, food shortages, or conflict in the next decades?
Second, zoom in. Who lives there, what are their priorities, and what governmental rules apply to solve these problems?
Third, plan and act.
All future problems will be shaped by geography. That means they are not infinite.
If we research, prioritize, and plant seeds today, we can stand in the right places tomorrow.
Geo-literacy turns big hopes into clear steps together.
But don’t you worry, you are not alone on this journey.
We have a solution for you.
InshaAllah we will announce soon and it will lay the foundation for us to get started.
