Let’s put this word cool on the table and see what it is for me and what it is for a Mo’min. For me, walking towards Oscar on the red carpet is cool, riding a rolls Royce is cool, people recognizing me as a celebrity is cool, getting a smile from girls is cool and being a pleasure chaser is cool. But Mo’min says, being a celebrity of angels and making them curious to meet me is cool, being the owner of planets and stars is cool, getting a smile of Allah azzawajal is cool and being in pain for Allah for your whole life is cool.
The environment around us alters and tunes our chemistry. One of the main reasons Islam isn’t cool to the youth is because it isn’t being shot at a specific projectile toward the oscillating brains—brains spinning in low-resonance frequencies, lost between piety and distraction.
Because they were raised under the guardians and teachers who had no clue about the disasters that will happen on this very earth in the next few years and they were not bag packed with necessary skills and gadgets.

And we all know this hadith of our prophet Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم has been manifesting before us for a long time. Every young boy or girl starts their day wondering: “What can I do to myself, or what should I own, so that people recognize me — so they see me as someone better than the rest?” And if that recognition doesn’t happen — if I don’t have a nice ride, if I’m not dressed right, or if I didn’t talk bigger trash in response to a small tease — I’ll feel low, maybe even depressed, because I failed to prove myself as cool for the day. And this shifting state of what’s considered 'cool' in every decade should be identified, analyzed, and surgically addressed by leaders — whether they are CEOs, businessmen, scholars, or parents.
Every time we buy some product, we try to understand the complete manual and working of that product to get maximum productive outcome from it. But a leader anchored only to his own vision and limited psychology, unaware of how this human — a masterpiece creation of Allah — truly functions and manifests its highest self when operated by its true manual: the Qur’an. So, be the manipulator of cool in your era, not the one manipulated by it.
