We have become a people of waiters.
Waiting for saviours. Waiting for signs. Waiting for someone else to do the work Allah already handed to us.
Muslims wait for the Mahdi.
Christians wait for Jesus.
Jews wait for the Messiah.
Different names. Same disease.
This isn’t new.
The Jews of Madinah used to boast: “When our Prophet comes, we will triumph over the Arabs.”
But when Muhammad ﷺ arrived, they rejected him. Why? Because waiting was easier than acting. Dreaming of a saviour was safer than carrying the responsibility themselves.
And now Muslims mirror the same mindset.
We whisper: “When the Mahdi comes, Islam will rise again.”
As if the Quran didn’t already command us. As if every nation wasn’t already assigned the same mission: establish Allah’s system (Deen), uphold justice, protect the oppressed. From the first son of Adam to the last human on earth, the task remained unchanged.
Think about it.
Why does Allah send prophets? Why will the Mahdi appear at the end of times?
Because humanity fails. Because people forget. Because we let go of the mission.
The arrival of a prophet, or of the Mahdi, is not the crown of our success.
It is the proof of our collapse.
It is divine intervention when human beings abandon their trust.
Look around.
Christians plan their Armageddon.
Zionists manipulate politics to “prepare” the world for their Messiah.
Muslims fold their arms, waiting for the Mahdi and Isa (AS) to descend.
But who is building the kingdom of Allah today? Who is establishing absolute justice? Like Abu Bakr and Ali did, like Umar bin Khattab did, where even the weakest Bedouin could question the ruler without fear?
They acted; they didn’t wait for a saviour to come and solve their crisis.
No one. Because we’ve outsourced our duty to legends of the future.
The more we glorify the arrival of a saviour, the more we show our unwillingness to complete the assignment.
The fascination with end times is not hope; it's despair disguised as faith.
So, the real question isn’t when the Mahdi will come?
The real question is: why did we let it come to this at all?
