The concept whether life emerges from an intelligent Creator has been debated on frequently. This article challenges the prospect that life originates from aneural unicellular organisms that evolved into species we observe today by reviewing the limbic system as evidence to support the existence of God.
The human brain, with ~86bn neurons, is capable of executing complex tasks, functioning at a speed of ~10bps. This complexity challenges the notion that it could’ve developed through random probability. The limbic system serves as the finest example of this complexity. It’s a network of interconnected regions governing emotions, where the amygdala evaluates threats, the hippocampus organizes memory, and the hypothalamus maintains homeostasis.
These functions are performed by neurotransmitters. Neurotransmitters are chemical-messengers stored in synaptic vesicles inside axon-terminals of neurons. When released, they bind to receptors on target neurons, generating electrical responses that influence mood, thought, and behavior. Studies reveal that this process takes at ≥0.5 millisecond to unfold, though the post-synaptic effects often last longer. These interactions exemplify that this system is like a constellation where almost every interaction shapes experience.
The Limbic system points to one truth: the brain’s complexity is a sign of the wisdom and power of its Creator.
ٱللَّهُ ٱلَّذِى جَعَلَ لَكُمُ ٱلْأَرْضَ قَرَارًۭا وَٱلسَّمَآءَ بِنَآءًۭ وَصَوَّرَكُمْ فَأَحْسَنَ صُوَرَكُمْ وَرَزَقَكُم مِّنَ ٱلطَّيِّبَـٰتِ ۚ ذَٰلِكُمُ ٱللَّهُ رَبُّكُمْ ۖ فَتَبَارَكَ ٱللَّهُ رَبُّ ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ
“It is Allah Who made the earth a place of settlement for you and the sky a canopy. He shaped you, perfecting your form. And He has provided you with what is good and lawful. That is Allah—your Lord. So Blessed is Allah, Lord of all worlds.”
