How emotionally damaged people affect others:
Sometimes the way we treat people shows our unhealed pain more than what we actually mean to do. And that’s exactly how emotionally damaged people end up affecting the world around them. Emotionally damaged people often react with anger, create unnecessary fights, and misunderstand even simple words. They struggle to express feelings, lack empathy, and push people away without meaning to. Their pain quietly changes the whole environment turning homes into tense spaces and relationships into battles. Once in a battle, Hazrat Ali (RA) had his enemy under his sword when the man spat on his face. Instead of killing him, He stepped back saying, “I was fighting you for the sake of Allah. But when you spat on me, my anger rose for myself, not for Allah. So, I stepped back.” This shows that true EI is about knowing when your emotion is for truth and when it’s for ego.
However, not all emotionally damaged people harm others. Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, who forgave the people of Makkah after years of cruelty. His pain didn’t turn into hatred; it turned into mercy. So sometimes, emotional damage becomes the reason people learn kindness, not the reason they harm others.
