Don’t Wait, Plant
Are we living in the end times? Only Allah knows. A dangerous narrative is spreading, that our problems are simply signs of the End Times and therefore, we should wait for divine intervention rather than work for change. This is a profound misunderstanding of our Faith.
While belief in the Hour is essential, Islam is a religion of action. The Qur'an commands us to “enjoin what is right and forbid what is wrong”(3:104). The Prophet Muhammad SAW famous hadith gives the perfect response: even if the Final Hour is breaking, while you are holding a seed, you should plant it. This is our duty, that is not suspended by eschatological beliefs.
Our history proves this. The Mongol invasion shattered the Muslim world, yet our ancestors did not surrender to despair. The success of Salahuddin was not a fluke, it was a product of a deliberate decades long unity project under Nur ud Din Zingi. He didn’t just raise armies, he systematically dismantled tribalism and city-state rivalries to build a unified political and military front.
Dr. Tariq Al Swaiden compellingly argues in strategic Change for the Muslim Ummah, our survival in a world of competing blocs depends on pragmatic alliances. The Pakistan- Saudi SMDA is a modern act of ‘planting the seed’. Let us leave the Hour to Allah and focus on duty He has given us, to build, unite and strive as if everything depends on our effort.
