Dear Dad,
I wish I could tell you how much I look forward to being with you. I’ve already built a whimsical world around you, from holding your finger as I learn to walk, to feeling your proud eyes follow me during my first bicycle ride. I want you to know how deeply I admire the role you will be playing in my life and the profound influence you will have on the person I will become.
Dad, Allah chose you to be my father. He has gifted you with the wisdom and skills needed to raise me. We are meant to be together for a very long time. Your presence will strengthen my confidence, and your belief in me will nurture my self-worth. Your protective presence will regulate my nervous system. I will feel calm, knowing I am safe. With you being around, I will worry less and thrive more. Your support will promote better integration of my emotions (right brain) and logic (left brain). Through physical play with you, I will learn structured problem-solving. The small risks I will take under your watchful eyes will prepare me for the bigger challenges in life.
As your daughter, I am an Amanah, entrusted to you by Allah. I know you will take care of me with all your heart, watching over me as a shepherd protects his flock. You will give me freedom to grow, but you will also keep a loving watch from afar, ready to help when I need you.
Dad, you will influence my perception of men. I want my heart to be so full of your love that it never chases attention elsewhere. The way you conduct yourself will help me choose my spouse wisely and set healthy relationship boundaries.
The story in Surah Al-Kahf about the father whose righteousness protected his children’s treasure has warmed my heart. I am grateful that your piety, prayers, and the way you live will be my quiet lessons. One day, I hope I will make you proud by walking in your footsteps.
Your role in my life is truly irreplaceable. Dad, I belong with you.
With Love,
Your Daughter.
